As Election Day Nears “Say No to The Mid-States Corridor” Organization Delivers A Final Call to Action

The “Say No to The Mid-States Corrdior” organization is making one final call to action to property owners in Martin and Dubois County, Ind. to be prepared for a possible call to action before the Indiana Governor’s election.
Us at The Loogootee Times reported two weeks ago the Mid-States Corridor sent the following letter to property owners in the path of the possible path of the Tier 2 Corridor studies reading in part, “This is a final notice before court action is taken to access your property.”

The organization “Say No To The Mid-States Corridor” posted a message yesterday, October 29, on their Facebook page about the actions needed to prevent properties in Dubois and Martin counties from facing challenges by researchers involved in the Tier 2 Study.
The organization wrote: “Recently we have had reports of the surveyor showing up with the deputy without presenting a court order to allow the surveyor on their property.” The Say No Corridor organizers said, “Instead, the deputy just reads a statement from the Indiana Code stating it as a Rural Development Code. So, what has happened is some not knowing better get intimidated and let’s the surveyor on their property. We confirmed with the Sheriff that you are not required to let the surveyor on your land unless they present a court order.
“So again, we are asking everyone to demand they come back with the court order papers. At that point it is your decretion whether you let them on the land since they are trying to threaten legal action. It is sad that they expect us to follow all the rules and yet they don’t think they need to follow them.”
The Say No Corridor finished speaking on the matter by providing the necessary papers to save them as a copy if anything happens to their property, “… we are still looking for anyone that has been served with court order papers to please photograph a copy and send it to us so we can share with others what it involves.”
To discuss more about the Corridor addressing more information about the Corridor, the Say No organization is organizing an information meeting at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center in Jasper on Friday, November 1 at 4 pm.
The organization advised in a recent Facebook post today, “We know these meetings share very little information, but we still need to show up in force to let them know the community is not letting this go and we stand together opposed to the Mid-States Corridor. Let your friends and neighbors know, wear your pins, stickers and/or hat if you have one.”
The 2024 Indiana Governor Election between Democrat Jennifer McCormick & Republican Mike Braun will affect Southern Indiana as many advise to also go out and vote on November 5.
We will keep you updated with more information on the 2024 Elections in Martin County, nationally, and throughout the country.
