The Loogootee Public Library invites families to its Sensory Hour on February 24 at 3:30 PM. This program is designed to create a welcoming and inclusive space for children of all abilities.

Sensory Hour offers a free-play environment where children can participate in various activities, including Play-Doh, crafts, fidget toys, coloring, and Legos. The relaxed setting encourages noise and movement, allowing children who may feel overwhelmed in more structured environments to feel comfortable and engaged.

Volunteer Elizabeth Mathias, a key figure in launching the program, highlighted the benefits of Sensory Hour for socialization, particularly for children whose social interactions may have been limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Parents must stay with their children during the event but can browse the library while remaining nearby. While the program is geared towards children up to approximately 8-10 years old, there is no strict age limit.

No registration is required; families can drop in between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.. The library hopes for a strong turnout and wants to continue expanding the Sensory Hour program.
