MARTIN COUNTY — The community will kick off its efforts to become dementia-friendly with an event scheduled for Tuesday at the Martin County Event Center. The Dementia Friendly Martin County Kickoff runs from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Doors open at 8am, offering attendees a complimentary breakfast prepared by Lisa Bauer. Vendors and informational tables will also be available throughout the event.
The morning program begins promptly at 9am with speakers from the Alzheimer’s Association and Dementia Friendly Indiana. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Natali Edmonds, a nationally recognized educator and founder of Dementia Careblazers.
The event aims to educate the community about dementia, promote awareness, and foster a more supportive environment for individuals affected by the condition and their families.
Dementia is a growing concern nationwide, and Martin County’s efforts are part of a larger push to create communities that are accessible and accommodating for those experiencing memory loss.
Attendance is open to the public, and organizers encourage community members, healthcare professionals, and local leaders to participate. For more information, contact the Martin County health department.
The kickoff marks the first step toward making Martin County a dementia-friendly community, with ongoing programs and resources planned for the future.
