The school community gathered for an energetic assembly to celebrate the start of the 2025-2026 academic year, marking a promising new beginning for students, staff, and families. The event featured a variety of activities designed to foster school pride and camaraderie, including friendly competitions, musical performances, and shout-outs to fall sports teams.
One of the highlights of the day was Loogootee High School honoring the Class of 2026, the incoming freshmen who are already demonstrating their enthusiasm for the upcoming year. Students cheered as their classmates were welcomed into the school community, along with the students who participated in welcome week games that helped set the tone of possible unity and enthusiasm.
The annual tradition of the Class Wars took center stage, where students competed in lighthearted challenges for the coveted Traveling Trophy. This year’s competition was lively and spirited, culminating in the Freshman Class securing the award. “Congratulations to the Class of 2026,” said Principal Trey Showalter on Facebook. “They showed great spirit and teamwork.”
The school’s fall sports teams received well-deserved recognition, with players being acknowledged for their dedication and achievements. The assembly was an uplifting celebration of school spirit, teamwork, and community support.
Students, staff, and families at all three levels of school are encouraged to embrace the positive momentum as they move forward, showing pride in their school and their community. With such a spirited start, Loogootee Middle School is poised for a successful and engaging year ahead.
