The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for parts of Indiana, effective Saturday at noon through Monday morning. The alert forecasts 6 to 10 inches of heavy snow across central, east-central, south-central, southeast, southwest, and west-central regions of the state. From as north as Kokomo, Loogootee, and as south as Jasper and Evansville are under a Winter Storm Warning and a Cold Weather Advisory.

Residents are advised to prepare for hazardous travel conditions, which could significantly impact the Monday morning commute. Authorities recommend delaying non-essential travel and exercising caution if travel is unavoidable. Travelers are urged to carry emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water.

Utility companies such as Daviess-Martin REMC, Duke Energy, CenterPoint, RTC Communications, and Frontier Communications are on standby to respond to outages. Customers are encouraged to contact their providers directly for updates.

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plans to plow all state highways within the affected counties, while local agencies will handle town and city streets. Motorists are urged to leave early, maintain increased following distances, and reduce speeds.
