2026 ELECTION ANNOUNCEMENT
MAY 5TH, 2026 PRIMARY
Voters: Absentee Ballot Applications to vote by mail are now being accepted at the Clerk’s Office until April 23rd, 2026.
Absentee Voting in Person will start Tuesday, April 7th and will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Martin County Courthouse located at 129 Main Street, Shoals. In-person voting will end Monday, May 4th at 12:00 p.m. NOON. Saturday, April 25th and Saturday, May 2nd we will be open at the courthouse for in person Absentee voting from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Please make sure you are registered to vote at your current license/ID address no later than April 7th, 2026. You can update/register to vote at the clerk’s office, BMV, or online at http://www.indianavoters.com/.
Candidates: Republican and Democratic candidates filing period will END February 6that NOON. If you are NOT an Incumbent Candidate, you must file your CFA-1 form by Friday, April 13th with the Clerk’s Office. Candidates must be registered to vote in their respective district no later than the deadline for filing to run for office. Candidates must have voted for their respective party in the last two (2) primary elections. More information can be found on the Indiana Secretary of State website at in.gov/sos. Forms are available at the Clerk’s office. Independent and minor party candidates’ filing period will be January 7th to June 30th by NOON.
