MONTGOMERY, Ind. — The Barr-Reeve community is mourning the loss of former boys basketball coach Joe Todrank, remembered as one of the “Viking Legends of the Game” for leading the program through two distinct eras and delivering its first sectional championship.
Todrank served two tenures at the helm of the Viking basketball program, first from 1966 to 1971, before returning for a second stint from 1975 through 1984. His return culminated in a historic 1980 season, when he coached Barr-Reeve to its first-ever boys basketball sectional title.
In recognition of his storied career—which spanned 21 seasons and 295 victories across high school programs in Southern Indiana—Todrank was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.
Community members and school officials extended their thoughts and prayers to Todrank’s family and friends, noting that the long-time coach will be greatly missed across the region.
