LOOGOOTEE, Ind. — Local officials are inviting the community to help shape the future of West Boggs Park as the department begins drafting its strategic roadmap for the coming years.

The Daviess-Martin Joint County Parks and Recreation Department announced it will host a public meeting Oct. 6 to gather public input for the 2027–2031 Five-Year Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The session is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. inside the West Boggs Park Activity Center, located at 16117 U.S. Highway 231 in Loogootee.

The comprehensive plan will establish development goals, maintenance strategies and funding targets for the recreational destination over the next five years. Department leadership is encouraging residents, frequent visitors, community groups, active park users and non-users alike to attend and provide feedback.

Attendees will have the opportunity to share ideas regarding future park facilities, recreation programs, nature conservation, and overall accessibility improvements across the property.

Officials emphasized that community involvement is critical for identifying local recreational needs and securing state and federal grant funding opportunities tied to approved master plans.
