April 2 Storm Tips From The Martin County Sheriff’s Office

With the threat of severe weather this evening, three local churches are again opening their doors to serve as a public shelter.

Storm Shelter Locations:

1. West Shoals Church of Christ– Shoals, IN

2. Cornerstone Community Church– Shoals, IN

3. St. John’s Catholic Church – Lower Level of the Activity Center– Loogootee, IN

*Additionally, it was reported that the tornado siren located at Shoals Community Schools did not activate yesterday during our monthly test. Do not rely solely on tornado sirens. It is always recommended to have multiple ways to receive alerts and warnings.

Storm Safety Tips:

1. Make sure your storm safe area is prepared with a flashlight, snacks, etc. in case you are there for an extended period of time.

2. Make sure your cell phone is fully charged prior to storms arriving.

3. Make sure other family members know your emergency plans.

4. Make sure your vehicle has a full tank of fuel.
