Severe weather is expected in southern Indiana on Wednesday, June 17 with two rounds of storms expected today.
The first round began to hit Indianapolis in the afternoon, and according to the National Weather Service, could bring damaging winds in excess of 80 mph.
The second and more severe round of storms, say meteorologists, will appear in the city around 8-9 p.m. on Wednesday with the potential for tornadoes and hail more than 2 inches in diameter.
The Loogootee Times will be monitoring the storm system predicted to barrel through the Midwest as they happen. Check back throughout the day by refreshing this link or following us on social media for more updates.

Tonight’s weather forecast for Martin and Daviess Counties in Indiana was inaccurate. There were no tornadoes in Loogootee—only light wind and rain. We must recognize that this caused confusion, which most media, including us, struggled with. We also faced technical issues while testing the JotForm forms app, but it is now operational.
Most areas still experience mild weather, and residents in Bloomington and outside Terre Haute should stay alert but avoid panic. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the storms near Bloomington, including Turkey Road, the town’s campgrounds, Nashville, and Columbus.
