LOOGOOTEE, Ind. — Construction on the $14.6 million Oak Street Village mixed-use development remains on track for completion later this year, according to a project update released today by JBH Ventures.
The update, shared by JBH Ventures President and CEO Joe White, provides an aerial photograph in a message sent to supporters of the project and posted on the City of Loogootee Facebook page, showcasing advanced structural framing, ongoing site grading, and groundwork for the multi-building complex located off North Oak Street.

Addressing residents in Loogootee and Martin County, White noted that work on the 5.5-acre workforce housing initiative is moving ahead steadily.
“Construction is moving along well, and we continue to make tremendous progress on site,” White said in the message. “We remain on track to finish by year-end, barring any unforeseen delays or interruptions.”
The development is designed to alleviate local housing shortages by introducing 50 new residential apartments, which will cater to varying family sizes. White announced that marketing and enrollment efforts for the housing units will commence ahead of the complex’s completion date.
“Pre-leasing will begin later this year, which means you will soon be able to apply for one of the 50 new 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments,” White said. Prospective residents are being directed to submit basic contact details on the project’s official website to secure future updates.
In addition to expanding residential options, the project incorporates an essential service designed for local working parents. A 4,500-square-foot licensed childcare facility, operated by Kid City USA, is being built on-site to address regional daycare shortages. The facility is expected to add 60 much-needed childcare seats to Martin County.
“Additionally, Kid City USA is on track to launch in early 2027 as well, giving local families a much-needed childcare option right in the community,” White stated. Families seeking early enrollment for children aged 2½ to 5, or those looking for before- and after-school care, are already being directed to pre-enrollment forms online.
The site plan shown in “image_2a8d79.jpg” details a layout that includes multiple residential buildings, a central retention pond, and dedicated zones for upcoming recreational additions, such as a public pavilion, playgrounds, and pickleball courts. The development will also partner with local organizations to provide supportive community services, including job training and financial literacy programs for its residents.
The project broke ground last summer through a joint partnership involving JBH Ventures, Sullivan Development, the City of Loogootee, and state-backed community development funds. Expressing gratitude to the surrounding neighborhood for its cooperation throughout the heavy construction phases, White concluded, “Thank you for your continued support, and please share this post with anyone who should see it!”
