LOOGOOTEE, Ind. — Drivers will need to find an alternate route around Poplar Street early this week as city crews replace a storm water culvert near Poplar Care Strategies.
The road will be closed in the immediate vicinity of 313 Poplar St. on Monday, July 27, and Tuesday, July 28, local officials announced.
Crews are scheduled to begin work Monday morning and will remain on site until the infrastructure project is complete. The full closure is expected to impact traffic near the nursing home through Tuesday evening.
City authorities urge motorists to exercise caution, adhere to posted detour signs, and allow extra travel time when navigating the surrounding neighborhood. Drivers are strongly advised to seek alternative routes to avoid potential delays.
Municipal officials highlighted that the culvert replacement is a necessary upgrade to improve local storm water management and prevent flooding in the area.
“We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we perform these essential infrastructure improvements,” city officials said in a statement.
Drivers seeking additional updates on local road closures can check the city’s official public works portal or transportation department communications.
