LOOGOOTEE, Ind. — The Loogootee High School girls golf team etched its name into school record books Tuesday afternoon, capturing the first invitational championship in the history of the program.

The Lady Lions delivered a steady, balanced performance across the scorecard to fire a collective team total of 237, securing an eight-stroke victory over runner-up Orleans, which finished at 245. Lanesville placed third in the field with a team tally of 260.

The performance earned Wolfe co-medalist honors and established another program first, making her the inaugural individual medalist in Loogootee girls golf history.

Wolfe was supported closely by teammate Hattie Humerickhouse, who finished just one shot back with a 57. Libby Swartzentruber provided crucial depth with a 59, while Brynn Lengacher and Jessica Pride each contributed rounds of 62 to round out the varsity scoring lineup.

The tournament championship represents a major milestone for the burgeoning Lady Lions program, which continues to gain momentum and competitive standing in regional high school links play. The landmark victory improves Loogootee’s overall record to 6-4 on the season.

Coaches and school officials praised the team’s focus, course management, and consistent progress, noting that Tuesday’s title reflects the dedication and steady work ethic shown by the student-athletes throughout the autumn campaign.

The Lady Lions will look to build on their historic triumph as they carry their regular-season momentum into upcoming dual matches and invitational play ahead of postseason sectional action.
