LOOGOOTEE, Ind. — High-flying bicycle stunts and motivational youth messaging will take center stage in Loogootee this month as the community marks national Red Ribbon Week.
The City of Loogootee and the Loogootee Beautification Board are partnering to host the “Bully-Free BMX Show” on Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Loogootee City Pool grounds, located at 411 Heritage Hill St. The family-friendly event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The centerpiece of the evening features a 40-minute “Big Air” stunt exhibition led by professional BMX riders, designed to combine athletic entertainment with practical character-building lessons for local students and families. Throughout the performance, riders will deliver motivational messages focusing on anti-bullying strategies, positive decision-making, mutual respect, teamwork, and drug-free living.
Red Ribbon Week is recognized annually across the United States to encourage youth to make healthy, responsible lifestyle choices and remain drug-free. Loogootee organizers emphasized that pairing high-energy athletic demonstrations with open community discussions provides an engaging platform to reinforce positive habits among area youth.
“Be Kind, Make Good Choices, Live Drug Free” serves as the evening’s guiding theme.
In addition to the performance, organizers will offer affordable concessions during the event. Attendees can purchase a meal combo consisting of a hot dog, chips, and a soda for $5.
The event is open to all community members, families, and neighboring residents across Martin County and the surrounding region. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure seating and enjoy concessions before the main stunt demonstration begins.
For more details regarding the performance or event schedule, residents can contact the Loogootee Beautification Board or visit local municipal community channels.
