New Glockenspiel Unveiled at Schnitzelbank: A Celebration of Heritage and Innovation

Despite the heat, our hearts were full as we cut the ribbon on our brand new Glockenspiel. The Schnitzelbank family would like to thank everyone who braved the blazing temps to help us commemorate this remarkable day, three years in the making.

We were honored to welcome many special guests, including Mayor Vonderheide, Nancy Eckerle, the Chamber of Commerce, our local German Clubs, members of the media, and the talented contractors who helped bring our vision to life. And of course, we thank all of you who continue to support our mission of celebrating our German heritage.

The original Glockenspiel stood as a beloved icon for many years. While it served us well, the time had come for something new, something bigger, more animated, and filled with music and charm. With real bells, new characters, and updated programming capabilities, this new installation offers a fresh spin on Old World tradition where history meets innovation.

Beyond the speeches and ceremony, the day was also filled with joy behind the scenes. Our family and employees took every opportunity to work, play, laugh, and make memories together. From champagne toasts, our matriarch Betty Hanselman making the official cut to capturing behind the scene photos that will be treasured and added to the archives as yet another special chapter in our story.

Our hope is that this not only brings enjoyment to our many guests but also adds to the charm and vibrancy of Jasper and all of Dubois County. We dream of making this a true destination, a must-see stop for families, travelers, and tour groups alike.

We’re proud to contribute to the continued growth of our region and to celebrate the German roots that make this area so unique. Here’s to many photo ops in the future… Prost!
