
LOOGGOTEE, Ind. — Former Mayor Don Bowling of Loogootee has died at age 97, leaving a lasting legacy of public service and community leadership. Bowling, a lifelong resident, served two terms as mayor and was recognized as Indiana’s oldest-serving mayor at the time of his retirement, exemplifying dedication and unwavering commitment to the city.
Throughout his years in public service, Bowling worked tirelessly to bolster Loogootee’s growth, support economic development, and create opportunities for future generations. His leadership and steady presence helped shape the city, and his impact will be felt for years to come.
On behalf of Mayor Brian T. Ader and city employees, the Loogootee community expressed its condolences to the Bowling family. The visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church.
