Ernest Leland Abel, 58, of Loogootee, Indiana passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026 in Evansville, Indiana.
He was born on October 10, 1967 in Washington, Indiana to Roy Leland Abel and Beverly Ann (Buchta) Abel.
Ernest is a 1985 graduate of Loogootee High School. Known to many as “Lee,” he had a deep passion for automobiles, which he carried into his career as a mechanic. He was a member of New Beginnings Church in Loogootee and was guided by his Christian faith.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents. He is fondly remembered by three step-siblings: Cindy Pridemore, Julie McQueen, and Sam Kearby; three aunts: Bonnie Buchta, Fay (Kenny) Smith and Janice (Delmus) Hamm.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee, Indiana with Pastor Ernie Canell to officiate. Burial to follow in Burns City Cemetery, Loogootee.
Visitation will begin the same day from 11:00 A.M. to the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Burns City Cemetery.
