The Loogootee Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees held a special meeting on Thursday, September 3, 2026, in the Loogootee High School Media Center. The meeting was called to order at 4:04 p.m. by Board President TJ McAtee, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Board members in attendance were President TJ McAtee, Secretary Brent Courter, Dr. Brooke Hawkins, and Chad Wade. Corporation personnel present included Superintendent Dr. Shelley Christmas, Corporation Treasurer Sara Lengacher, and Corporation Computer Technician Pryce Hedrick. No other individuals were in attendance.
After calling the meeting to order, TJ McAtee provided an opportunity for patrons to address the board regarding items included on the meeting agenda. No patron statements were offered.
The board then conducted a public hearing regarding the Loogootee Community School Corporation’s proposed 2027 budget, Capital Projects Plan, and School Bus Replacement Plan.
With no public comments presented, Dr. Hawkins made a motion to close the public hearing. Brent Courter seconded the motion, and the board approved it by a unanimous 4–0 vote. The public hearing was officially closed at 4:05 p.m. The 2027 budget, Capital Projects Plan, and School Bus Replacement Plan are scheduled to be considered for adoption at the board’s next regular meeting.
The board then considered personnel matters. The personnel recommendations included the re-appointment of Sara Lengacher as treasurer of the Loogootee Community School Corporation. The board also considered the renewal of the morning, midday, and evening special education bus routes operated by Ilene Wagler and Melinda Yoder. Dr. Hawkins made a motion to approve the personnel matters as presented, and Brent Courter seconded the motion. The board unanimously approved the recommendations by a 4–0 vote.
With no additional business before the board, Chad Wade made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Brent Courter seconded the motion, and it passed by a unanimous 4–0 vote. The meeting adjourned at 4:08 p.m. The next meeting of the Loogootee Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, 2026.
