LOOGOOTEE, Ind. — Loogootee student-athletes are set for an action-packed evening across several sports Tuesday, headlined by the annual Loogootee Invitational cross country meet alongside high-stakes conference matchups on the road and at home.

Runners from both the middle school and high school cross country teams will compete this evening at West Boggs Park for the Loogootee Invite. The races get underway with the middle school girls at 5:30 p.m., followed by the middle school boys at 6:00 p.m. High school competition begins at 6:30 p.m. with the girls race, while the high school boys cap off the meet with a 7:00 p.m. start.

Meanwhile, high school varsity and junior varsity squads take to the road for Blue Chip Conference action against neighboring rival North Daviess. The varsity and junior varsity boys tennis teams will open competition against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m., following a 3:30 p.m. team departure. On the court, the varsity and JV volleyball teams will travel for a 6:00 p.m. contest at North Daviess, with the team bus departing at 4:30 p.m.

Back in Loogootee, younger volleyball squads will defend home turf in evening action. The seventh- and eighth-grade volleyball teams host Forest Park inside historic Jack Butcher Arena, with match play scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Simultaneously, the sixth-grade “A” and “B” volleyball teams will take on Southridge at 6:00 p.m. inside the Loogootee Activity Center.

The packed Tuesday schedule marks an active stretch of early-season competition for the Lions across high school and junior high levels.
